THE

Move-In Process

1

Explore the community of your choice and secure your preferred accommodation by placing a deposit.

2

Arrange a convenient time for a member of our team to conduct an assessment at the potential resident’s home. This assessment, comprising a series of questions, ensures our team is well-prepared for the resident’s transition, addressing both physical and psychosocial needs. We understand the challenges of moving and strive to maintain continuity in our new residents’ routines.

3

Compliance with California regulations necessitates the completion of LIC 602 forms (physician’s report) before a resident’s move-in, which also includes the results of a TB test. These forms are to be filled out by the potential resident’s primary care physician. Rest assured, our community possesses copies of these forms and will furnish them for your convenience.

4

Once the admission agreement and internal move-in paperwork are signed, payment for the potential resident’s stay will be collected. Please note that our rooms come unfurnished, but upon completion of the aforementioned steps, the potential resident’s room can be arranged and personalized according to their preferences.

FINANCIAL

Resources

When considering placing a loved one in a senior living community, it’s important to explore various funding options.
Here are some avenues to help cover the costs:

Long-Term Care Insurance

Long-term care insurance is designed to cover individuals with chronic illnesses or disabilities requiring skilled care over an extended period. If your loved one holds such a policy, it can significantly alleviate the out-of-pocket expenses associated with care. Benefits may encompass nursing home stays, assisted living services, and adult daycare. Please note that coverage varies, and it’s advisable to review the policy details for specifics.

Veterans Benefits

Veterans and their surviving spouses eligible for a VA pension and in need of the “aid and attendance” of a caregiver may qualify for additional benefits beyond their monthly pension. These supplementary benefits can be utilized to offset senior living costs. It’s worth noting that individuals with excess income rendering them ineligible for a basic VA pension might still qualify for “aid and attendance” benefits. Award amounts for 2020 vary based on marital status:

  • Married Veteran: $2,266

  • Single Veteran: $1,911

  • Surviving Spouse: $1,288

*Please be aware that Bayshire Senior Communities cannot assist with pre-qualifying for this benefit or provide details on the amount you’ll receive. We aim to offer resources for understanding this benefit program.

Senior Living and Tax Deductions

Many aren’t aware that senior living expenses are tax deductible. To qualify, seniors must receive assistance with at least two activities of daily living. Bayshire can furnish you with necessary information from the care plan to substantiate the assistance provided. The deductible amount varies for each individual, and we recommend consulting with a tax professional for guidance.

Bayshire is committed to assisting you with the documentation required from our communities for tax deductions to the best of our ability. However, please note that we cannot aid in completing your taxes, and it’s advisable to seek assistance from a tax professional for personalized advice.
